Sunday Soul Note: You Are Not Late

Have you ever felt like you missed the moment meant for you?

Like the world handed out the map, the instructions, the timeline, and somehow, yours got lost in the mail?

I’ve felt that way more times than I can count.

I left home at 15.
Dropped out of school when most kids were planning prom.
Went to college at 30.
Became a social worker at 32.
And finally, finally, let myself be called an artist at 48.
Not late… just different.

For a long time, I thought I was behind.
But now I see it through a different lens: God’s timing.
And His timing doesn’t run on alarms, calendars, or comparison.

It runs on readiness.

And sometimes, readiness doesn’t come early.
Sometimes it comes after the heartbreak, after the healing, after the years no one else sees.

If you’re reading this and wondering if you’ve missed your moment—you haven’t.

You are not late.
You’re right on time.
For your journey.
For your soul’s blooming.
For the way God uniquely wrote your story.

We don’t have to follow anyone else's script.
We don’t have to rush what was never meant to be hurried.

God knows when to press pause and when to whisper, “Now.”
And when He says “go,” doors open. Hearts open. Purpose opens.

So whether you’re starting something new at 60, finishing something you left behind at 20, or simply figuring it out one breath at a time, celebrate that.

You showed up.
You started.
You’re still becoming.

There is no expiration date on transformation.
There is no “too late” in a life led by faith.

You are exactly where you’re meant to be.
Still becoming.
Still unfolding.
Still seen by God.

You are not late.
You are right on time.

With love,

The Way God Speaks to Me

Whispers, Signs, and Sacred Knowing from Childhood to Now

People often ask me,
“How do you hear God’s voice?”

And I get it. We all want to know we’re not alone. That something greater is guiding us. But when I try to explain how I hear Him… I always have to start from the beginning.

Because I’ve been hearing God for as long as I can remember.

Even as a Little Girl…

When I was young, I didn’t have the words for what I was experiencing. I just knew things. I could sense emotions in people, feel the heaviness in a room before anyone said a word. I'd get a quiet pull in my chest—like I should say something kind, or walk away, or stay very still.

It wasn’t loud. It wasn’t dramatic. But it was constant. Gentle. Steady.

Looking back now, I see it clearly:
God was already whispering to me.

He was teaching me how to listen to the world through my heart. How to see through spirit eyes. How to trust the feeling that something more was always with me.

How I Hear Him Now

That whisper never left me. It just changed as I grew.

Today, I don’t need hours of silence or perfect stillness to hear Him.
For me, it happens in a moment—a single breath.

I’ll pause. Close my eyes. Ask Him what I need to know.
And then, I open them.

And that’s when the signs begin.

The Language of Signs

God speaks to me through the world around me.
Through animals. Through objects. Through beauty that feels impossible to ignore.

A butterfly. A crow. A feather in an unexpected place. A random word on a sign. A song I haven’t heard in years that suddenly brings me to tears. Something lying on the sidewalk that looks like nothing—but feels like everything.

And in those moments, I hear that same quiet whisper I’ve known all my life.

It’s not always about what I see.
It’s about what I feel when I see it.
That instant knowing that says: “This is for you.”

His Voice Isn’t Loud. But It’s Real.

God’s voice in my life isn’t a shout. It’s not a booming command.
It’s a sacred, familiar knowing that rises up inside of me with complete clarity.

Even when I’m scared.
Even when I’m uncertain.
Even when I don’t want to hear the answer—His voice is still gentle. Still kind.

I don’t always understand it right away, but I never question if it’s real.

For Anyone Who's Wondering...

If you’ve ever asked, “How do I know if it’s God?”—maybe it’s time to stop trying to hear Him the way others do… and start noticing the way He’s already speaking to you.

Through feeling.
Through stillness.
Through that thing that made you pause today and wonder, Was that something more?

It probably was.

Why Soul Horizon Exists

I created Soul Horizon as a home for stories like this—for the whispers, the signs, and the unfolding. For the ones who feel, see, and know in ways they can’t quite explain.

This space isn’t about having the answers. It’s about honoring the questions.
It’s about trusting the nudges.
It’s about believing that maybe, just maybe, you're being led by something sacred.

And if you're here… I don’t think it’s by accident.

Journal Prompt:

Close your eyes for just one breath. Ask:
“God, what do You want me to notice today?”
Then open your eyes, move through your day, and write down anything that feels like a sign, a whisper, or a quiet knowing.
